Creating worlds by illustrating games

The relationship between manga and video games goes back a long way. The history of modern gaming cannot be understood without the profound influence of the imagery and aesthetics of Japanese art.

For many years, Japan has been the definitive superpower in videogame creation. And for many gamers, their art was their first exposure to this artistic expression, its characters, and its narratives.

Today, when board games, the parents of video games, are living a new golden age, they are feeding strongly on these imaginaries.

In this exhibition, we present the work of Bea Castillo, Ernest Sala and Mado Peña, authors who have grown up and worked surrounded by manga, now bring to life new worlds and characters in new universes of videogames and board games.

Bea Castillo is an illustrator and comic book artist who has specialized in recent years as a concept artist for board games and videogames, as we can see in Wondering Galaxy, Summoner Wars and Creatures of Ara.

Ernest Sala was the main artist in the creation of the videogame Mika and the Witch's Mountain and, together with Mado Peña, they were also responsible for the adaptation of the same world for the recently announced board game Delivery Witches.
