Shun Umezawa

Mangaka Shun Umezawa will not be able to attend to the 28th edition of Manga Barcelona due to health reasons, but we will be able to talk with him in live connection from Japan.

UMEZAWA was born in 1978 and made his manga artist debut in 1998. His manga anthology, Panty Stocking no Youna Sora no Moto (Under the Pantyhose-like Sky), came into the spotlight as it ranked 4th in the male category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2017 (This Manga is Amazing! 2017).

His ongoing manga series, Darwin's Incident, is serialized in the monthly comic magazine, Gekkan Afternoon. It ranked 10th in the male category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 (This Manga is Amazing! 2022), and received numerous awards, including a Grand Prize from Comic Grand Prize 2022 and an Excellence Award in the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Manga Division.

UMEZAWA’s other works include Utopias, With One and Ninety-Nine, Pinky wa Nido Bell wo Narasu (Pinky Rings the Bell Twice), and Erewhon.
